how it all began
In 1976, the parents of Holy Family Catholic Primary School came together to organise a fundraiser centred around an exhibition of art. Known as the Holy Family Arts and Craft Show, the art show featured high quality art and craft and quickly became the major event on the school calendar.
Over the years, the show continued to expand and evolved to become the Lindfield Art Show and Fair. The art remained the focus but there were also book stalls, homemade delights, an endless supply of delicious cakes, a white elephant stall and handmade treasures like knitted socks, jumpers and scarves for sale. The kids enjoyed watching the teachers succumb to the dunking machine, while the parents sat hopeful for a win on the chocolate wheel. Everything was donated or made by the school community and parish.
Now in its 48th year, the annual Lindfield Art Show and Fair is the north shore’s premier art show, with visitors coming from far and wide to enjoy a weekend of art, market stalls, food and entertainment.
The faces on the organising committee may have changed, but the commitment of parents, generosity of the community and school spirit continues to thrive. We are very proud of our event and our achievements and will continue to work hard to preserve this celebrated legacy for generations to come.
